Dreamwave Productions is no more.

R.I.P.
Yes, that's right folks. Dreamwave Productions in Markham has closed down. Known for their colouring techniques (mainly) and for ripping off the anime/manga community (sorry, but even the storylines were Japanese...wtf??), they have recently announced that they are bowing out of the comic book industry. I didn't tell many people, but I tried to get into this mecha last minute for volunteer work last summer in 2004, but failed. The exec said that there may not be a position as times were rough and the positions were filled (or maybe they didn't like my stuff? If so...punks!). And he was right...awww. I still give props to them for trying really hard and staying in the game for a while. They even got Transformers...they had the skills. But I think the main problem may have been the direction they were going in. Colin (aka http://www.ravenloftrocks.blogspot.com), I guess we were right after all. The shotty storylines would eventually catch the eyes of the fanboys, destroying the whole thing...lol. But I wished it went differently. I know Canada and Ontario in particular is still there and have the talent and people. And the comic industry is not what it's said to be, which is going-down-the-toilet.
I think it's cause they try to copy a market (the manga market) that already has some heavy guns in it. Anyways...people out there, don't give up on comics. It's coming back, I can feel it, I have faith. All they need is one comic to change the industry. And if those filmmaking fools would just stop already! Damn...I had a feeling that the disconnection of Spiderman the Movie from the comic would lead to stuff like this. I like the movie...but why does it overshadow the comic? Like if they ever said "The Passion" was MUCH better than the original story from the Bible. COME ON NOW. Never. Whew...I got that out of my system. To let other readers out there know, I'm a longtime comic lover...for the art mainly, but have been geekily going to the Comic Cons since I was in Grade 8. NO...I'm not a geek...I don't think so. If I am, then I'd have to be a so-called "cool-nerd" haha...that's my delusion anyway...haha. So next time, I'll talk about something cooler. Like the Yakuza or the car industry and it's hot models.
